Richard J. Gognat

Rich Gognat joined Meritage at its formation in 2012 and has executive responsibility for all of Meritage’s legal and EHS matters. He has more than 35 years of experience in the midstream, upstream and oilfield services sectors. Rich joined Meritage after serving as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary at High Sierra Energy, LP. Previously, Rich was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at SandRidge Energy, Inc. and held positions in the legal department with DCP Midstream and its affiliates. Prior to DCP, Rich was in private practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Regis University in 1982 and a law degree, with honors, from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1989.
