Powder River Basin

Powder River Basin

The Powder River Basin is one of the most resource-rich areas in the United States with massive reserves of coal, crude oil and natural gas. As the largest coal-producing region in the country, the PRB currently accounts for approximately 40 percent of U.S. coal production. At the same time, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) estimates that the Powder River Basin contains approximately 1 billion barrels of remaining recoverable oil.

Today new drilling technologies are being applied to legacy oil fields in the basin. What the basin lacks is sufficient gathering, processing and transportation infrastructure at the right location to bring natural gas, NGLs, crude oil and condensate to the highest value markets. Meritage Midstream's expanding footprint in the PRB is addressing this core challenge giving producers the flexibility and optionality they need.
